The following information is available for Holy Trinity Orthodox Church:
Holy Trinity Church, is located in Overland Park, KS and is part of the Orthodox Church in America and in the Diocese of the Midwest.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, a parish in the Diocese of the Midwest of the Orthodox Church in America, was settled in 1917 by Russian immigrants in the Kansas City, Kansas neighborhood known as Russian Hill. Now nearly 100 years later, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church has grown from a small Russian-speaking parish to one whose members are primarily American-born, English-speaking converts to Orthodoxy. Indeed, the growth of the parish has mandated the sale of the small Russian Hill church, and a much larger temple has been built in Overland Park at 119th Street and Pflumm Road. At present, Holy Trinity parish has nearly 200 members, including approximately 50 children. We are a growing church community worshiping God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- in the 2000-year-old Orthodox Christian Tradition. While many aspects of Orthodox worship may seem strange and unfamiliar to you as a visitor, we trust that over time the beauty, sanctity, and reverence of the Divine Liturgy will bring you into a closer and eternal relationship with God. You will be in our prayers, and we invite you to join our church family. O Heavenly King, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth! You are everywhere and fulfill all things. O Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, Come and abide in us, and cleanse us of every impurity, And save our souls, O Good One!

Congratulations and Many Years to Nathaniel Sawchak and Alexis Moulton. Both of these young men have been awarded a $1000 college scholarship from the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting. This past Sunday, Fr. Tim read a letter from EOCS commending both of them and our parish on the almost unprecedented event that two of the national scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors from the same parish. They both are Eagle Scouts, recipients of the Orthodox Alpha Omega scout award, accomplished students, and active members of our parish community, especially in their roles in the choir and as altar servers. Nate plans to attend the University of Kansas and Lex will attend Arizona State University. We are delighted to celebrate these two good friends in their accomplishments!

Our final day of Vacation Church School was all about fish, whales, and water! We learned about Jonah and the Whale and about St Brendan the Navigator, a monk who sailed from the British Isles to North America in the 6th century, almost 1000 years before Columbus! A whale he met on the journey saved one of his monks who fell overboard! Then our Doves class completed a beautiful project featuring Jonah’s whale, and we all enjoyed lots of water play and ice cream sandwiches. Thank you to the many people who made this joyous week possible! We hosted about two dozen children from five area parishes and made many new friendships while we learned together!

Christ is risen! (And let it snow!)
Let all mortal flesh keep silent, pondering nothing earthly-minded, for the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, comes to be slain, to give Himself as food to the faithful.
Gospel for Sunday, October 22: Luke 16:19-31 (The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus)
Clergy and parishioners of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church recently came together to share stories of their personal faith journeys. This is just a small sampling of the larger history of not only our parish, but the history of Orthodox Christianity in the Kansas City area. Our appreciation to Greg Sheffer for his work producing this video, which debuted at our Centennial Gala on October 8th, 2017.
What a weekend! Every event was nothing short of spectacular! Of course, the most important of these was the celebration of the Divine Liturgy with His Grace, Bishop Paul. I don't think anyone took video at the Gala, so I took a moment to record my remarks from yesterday evening. #htoc100
